To be honest they should still be in the fleet as they are very much needed on the 4, I used the route for a long time, until the last year or so, and many of my colleagues who still work in the same company as I did are now carpooling, as since the peak frequency cut to the 4 and the reverting to double deckers, the service has become atrocious to the degree that it's pointless relying on it as most of the time you are waiting forever as several buses go past full.

It is also a dreadful waste of taxpayers money, that an asset which only entered service in 2001, is now being scrapped after less than 10 years of service. The fate of such vehicles perfectly illustrates the fact why I am highly critical of Dublin Bus' fleet replacement programme, many buses are leaving the fleet far too early in their lives, when they are good for another few years.
