I would take the stuff about possible high spec EV's with a small pinch of salt though as it is just a rumor, and of course it has been posted here and in other places that there are supposed to be 65 VT's and 15 EV's coming in. Of course such a small number of EV's as posted elsewhere would be roughly the same number of vehicles as we have right now in airlink livery, which could be just a coincidence but maybe it is not who knows.

You could be on to something with maintenance, however what doesn't add up is there are EV's going around the place with rattly panels around the destination board, rattly and loose components elsewhere, large air pressure release sounds like someone using a pump to push air, defective lights, and the grab rails which are coming out the ceiling whichare pushing the seats they are connected to back at angles, which never seem to get attention. However a VG with more minor problems than this seems to be pulled up, taken out of service, moaned about and in quite a few cases sent back to Wrights to be repaired. I don't understand that. Even today I see the new 747 promotional materiel, which has pictures and illustrations of an AV with 747 on the front, the normal services in promotional materiel are using EV's. Even on the Dublin Bus Facebook page there is 8 pictures, 7 of them are EV's and the one for Airlink is an AV!

As stated in the other post the reason DB did not order Gemini's before hand after having one on trial in 2004 is they believed they were not close enough to the Dublin Bus Spec, hence why a few years later when some were ordered, the Wright MD came out with a quote basically saying they had to make many technical adjustments to get the order. Ironically the stuff that has been adjusted for not being suitable according to Dublin Bus has been the most problematic. I was on a VG today, on a route with lots of ramps and sat upstairs. You go over every ramp at speed and you feel a satisfying, soft hollow thud when you go over them. Not a single rattle, bang, squeak vibration or flexing sound. This morning I did the same route on an EV sat in practically the same place upstairs. Every time I went over a ramp there was a multitude or rattles, squeaks, and the destination display wobbling around. Didn't actually hear the bus itself go over the ramps, as the sound of this was drowned out by the other noises. Downstairs on the VG was less impressive, rattly cab, rattly doors. Be interesting to see what the same spec VG would be like with a standard front end, I'd be sure that most of these rattles would be gone.

Oh, and here's what kind of spec Gemini Lothian Buses have on their airport service, pretty impressive isn't it? Don't think we'll ever see something like that in Dublin mind
