The AV type probably was the best of the low floor deckers back in 2000, but the VWD/VG type came along in 2002, although I think of the deckers the Scania Omnidekka was the best of the Euro 3's, I don't think the B7TL chassis was Volvo's finest hour, though I suppose my dislike of the chassis comes from the fact that it is too underpowered. Ever since Volvo introduced the B9TL, their decker has been the best, and the Wrights body is also the best. IMHO there isn't a better decker out there than the VG/VWD type. I don't think bonded glazing is practical for the bulk of the Dublin Bus fleet (however the Airlink buses definitely should have been ordered with a spec similar to the VWDs), but it is time Dublin Bus moved with the times and ordered buses with proper decent spec bucket seats.

I think you're wrong DC07 on the EV type - Dublin Bus did want to move to it - the only reason there are 200 AXs in the fleet is because they were supposed to get 100 of them in 2006 and then the Government could see there was an election looming so decided that 100 extra buses would be a good way to appeal to voters in Dublin, hence why they were ordered. Having said that, the fact that it is based on the ALX400 body undoubtedly made it easy for them to change!

It is true that there was an AV/AX up in Wrightsbus HQ by the way - I well remember reading it on GarĂ¡iste - it was up there around the time Wrights were making WH1!
