Well I would have thought Galway was in need of another two or three deckers, since the 9 is very well used up there.

While Cork is meant to be getting all of the deckers, if they are not Wrights bodied, don't be surprised to see Broadstone take a few for themselves, and either transfer VWD1-4 to Cork or else DD14-16 to Galway. I am not privy to what Bus Éireann's plans are so I am only outlining what might happen. Cork will have to get some of them for the P&R, so that will mean at least three and quite possibly five new deckers at the very least, as Cork city council want to expand the service and the new service will require two extra deckers. Cork is supposed to be getting all of the deckers, but don't be surprised if it doesn't happen! At the end of the day, there will be more deckers here next year than at the present and the 5, 8 and 232 can look forward to having extra deckers - and they are badly needed on these routes.

If they went for VWLs and VWDs, then the VWLs should be here before the year is out, and the VWDs should arrive early next year - Wrights are usually very good at delivering stuff quickl once the order is gone in.

Regardless of what happens, the 99 VWLs are towards the end of their careers, as are the last remaining DPCs.

What is interesting is the fact that there are six DPCs, four 99 VWLs, 19 MCs and seventeen 00 VWLs, giving a total of 46, yet there are only 35 citybuses on order. Now two of those will be withdrawn shortly due to recent cutbacks in Waterford city services, but that leaves us with the question of what will be done with the other nine buses. The Black Ash P&R is meant to be expanded, meaning that two extra vehicles will be required, so that will mean there will be 11 buses without replacement

Limerick and Galway have not had any cutbacks to their city services, so it will be interesting to see if anything happens there. Otherwise there will still be some VWLs, MCs and possibly DPCs left even after all the new buses arrive. I hope that they will keep on the better 00 VWLs - there is still plenty of life left in several of them.

The following 00 VWLs are still in good order and would be able for another few years on the road: 101, 103, 105, 110, 111, 113, 114, 117, 119. Of the others, the next best are 115 and 116.
