Good news it must be said.  There is a chance that the triaxle Scania's could be K340 full autos.  This has the larger engine but a standard full auto box.  The big 14m triaxle owned by Anchor Tours (seen in the RDS show last year) has this setup.  Apparently while maybe lacking compared with other vehicles with larger HP that coach has been all over Europe without fail.  I'd like to think they would look at the K400 with 2 pedal Opticruise gearbox like what Ulsterbus have bought as this would give a good balance of fuel economy with power.

I've been on tour of late and was told by a very glum CIE Tours driver that due to the contents of the McCarthy & Mazar's report BE had been turned down for funding for new tours vehicles.  He did say that orders had been placed for the service fleets and as such there may be fact in what he said.  The fact that they have only ordered 20 of the triaxles would seem to me to indicate that this also would be the case.
