Just a couple of quick points Dublin Commuter - Irizar displayed an integral DAF engined PB, there was no Scania vehicles on show at all.

The Elite with low front destination gear was actually launched at the show last year in the NEC.  The vehicle on show this year was for the Citylink Gold Aberdeen to Glasgow service.  The consesous of anyone I've spoken to and any trade press I've seen (and I agree) is that the actual concept is good but the fitting is poor using crude rubbers like were seen onn 1960's & 70's coaches.  One fairly prominent operator who viewed it this year also pointed out that it was prone to stone chips and breakage due to debris where it is now mounted and stand staff made no effort to convince him otherwise when he raised the issue.  Ironically he is in the market for a vehicle and the lack of interest in his query put him off Plaxton!!!

An interesting development which was much talked about at the show and is in this weeks RouteOne is that Scania UK are now going top be selling the Plaxton range of bodies on Scania chassis.  No word are Westward going to bring the range to Ireland but this would certainly be an attractive option for many operators here. Certainly would have potential for BE I think?
