The old garage is used as a rail P&R facility as you mentioned. I think it was €6 for a day - you leave the car, hop on the train, get where you want to, do what you want to, hop on a return train and get you piece of rubbish steel and aluminium out of the P&R because you live in Spiddal :P Just kidding.

What they could do is improve the waiting bus capacity by making extra few stops in the P&R, along with decent sheltering. If I'm not mistaken, there was a side entrance from the old garage to the rail station, but, again, I'm not sure whether it still exists.

And one last thing - it'd be no pain to install Kessel curbs all along Eyre Square and the Bus Station. Many times have I seen a bus driver nick the bus over the curb and screech it, leaving nasty, rust-coloured marks on the curb.
