Fair points made there lads , but two questions : How was it that during the Tall Ships festivals of 2005 and 2011 Waterford was "swamped" in Dublin bus deckers as well as buses from Cork ? secondly : Cork has its own tourist attractions surely extra deckers would find use on other routes to blarney for example ? . If as you suggest SL10 that deckers are not needed on the 205 from May to September ( almost half a year ) why have them at all if they are only going to be used half the time ?

During the college terms, the 205 is the busiest route on the city network. There can be very bad overcrowding. Ideally the route should be fully operated by double deck buses but there isn't enough for that. In the mornings, between 8 and 9, a variety of buses and coaches can be seen operating to CIT to try and move the crowds. As a lot of students use the train, the deckers can be full before even leaving the Kent station. By sending the deckers to Waterford during the summer, they are being utilised very well.

It is big tourist destinations like Tramore, Galway, Bundoran etc. that get very busy during the summer. While Blarney is busy all year round, the VWL's are well able to manage on the 215. There isnt any overcrowding issues on the Blarney side of the route.
