Volvos with VanHool bodywork would be ideal, but I don't think we will see these because of cost, these are likely to be very expensive and VanHool's lead in times will probably rule them out, a pity because they would be brilliant.

It's great to know that they don't have to choose VDLs for decker coachess and there is a Scania option available, obviously Scanias are a much better chassis, but they can't be ordered because even their tri-axle single deckers are only available with Opticruise which has a clutch pedal unless Scania changes the design of Opticruise.

I would imagine the tri-axles are for higher profile routes like Dublin-Galway and Cork-Galway, the loadings on Cork-Galway today were such that even with 2 SPs leaving Parnell Place together both were full so I suppose the higher capacity on key routes like these would be useful to them and would reduce the company's dependence on privates(which would allow them to cut costs in the long run).
