I'd agree that price will probably rule the VanHool and even the Daddy of deckers the Neoplan Skyliner out.

Scania have launched a 2 pedal version of the Opticruise box for trucks and I believe it either is already or is imminently available for coach/bus applications.  Chambers have been running at least 2 at any given time of the Scania/Berkhoff deckers and replace them regularily so must be happy enough.

I'd also agree that high capcity tri axle single deck coaches would be ideal for some of the routes pulling "helps" on a regular basis.  At weekends especially most daytime services need a "help" to clear the airport, with the 2nd coach often being less than full so it would make sense (a rare commodity on BE management) to buy a coach that could handle the majority of these services on it's own.
