Indeed, the new vehicles could save money as relief buses have become very common again.  A quick visit to Busaras last night found three or four independents on BÉ services, most operating reliefs.  The LDs are suitable for the 109 and 120 as this are medium hop commuter runs.  I think we all agree that BÉ has the right vehicles just not on the right services.  The city deckers are a case in point.  An update on this though is that a visit to Dundalk on Thursday found a need for deckers as the school services were lets say overly full.  The DD on the Ardee was full, however a short AM on the Carlingford run was inappropriate.... The 103 is a problem route.  Double deckers are a necessity, LDs would not be suitable though.  I would prefer to see all the VWDs in Cork, however loads on the 103 and 105 require these in Leinster until a suitable fleet is got for the these routes.  The Drogheda DDs could still be sent to Galway though.
